I first began designing websites in 2001. Like the majority of my contemporaries I am self taught, though I do have an educational training in both fine art and graphic design.
Learning to code HTML first by hand rather than using wysiwyg editors has resulted in me gaining a good technical understanding of website development, I use these skills in conjunction with industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
Personal preference leads me to using Macs for the majority of my design work though I am also equally comfortable using Windows based PCs.
Because of the ever changing nature of web development I am constantly refining and improving my skills. The last year has seen me move more towards working with with web standards.
My current role as a senior web designer for the Oldroyd Publishing Group involves me designing and maintaining websites for a diverse range of clients and also producing web based advertising such as banners.
